Frequently Asked Questions
BIOT uses WebEx's Training Center for our web-based symposia. We hope that the below information will be helpful to you as we seek to provide you with the "Best of BIOT."Will there be a recording or print-out of slides available?
Currently, we are unable to offer notes, slide print-outs, recordings or any other form of "take home" media.
Do I need to download a program to view the webinar?
Yes, When you first log into a WebEx webinar, it automatically installs a Client so that you can view what everyone else is viewing. A few attendees have had delay or inability to access the webinar because their computer/ISP interferes. You can preemptively address this issue by downloading the Client before hand.
Is there any way I can watch tutorials to familiarize myself with webinars?
Yes. WebEx has a comprehensive library of tutorials. Currently, we have not made BIOT specific tutorials, although it may be in our future plans.
How do I get the audio portion of the webinar?
Currently, all you need is a telephone. We have set it up so that everyone would call in to the same toll-free teleconference number. Once you log into the webinar through the link in your e-mail, a dialogue box will appear instructing you on how to access the audio portion. If you do not see the dialogue box, click on "communicate", then click on "join teleconference." The dialogue box will appear.
Is there a question and answer component to the webinar, and if so, how does it work?
Yes, after each presentation there will be a Q&A time. The session chairs will moderate. You will need to listen carefully to the presenter and the session chair. You will need to click on the "hand" icon to show the moderator that you have a question and/or you could type the question in the "chat box." The moderator will then have you unmuted (all attendees are muted so as to avoid accidental noise disrupting the presentation). You will then speak your question and then click on the "hand" icon again to lower your hand.
You can download the software at:
https://acs.webex.com/tc0500l/trainingcenter/site/downLoads.do?siteurl=acs&actionType=firstEnter
Go to this site. Click "Training Manager" on the right hand side. Then click "Set up" to download the program you will need to participate in a webinar.
By downloading this client before logging into your first webinar session, you may speed up your connection time. Some attendees computer and/or ISP has conflicted with the initial training session log in. Downloading this client before hand may circumvent this issue.
This webpage gives you good video tutorials to alleviate any initial concerns you might have if you have not attended a webinar before. It may help make the "unknown" known.
